Japan is a country that is full of contradictions. You can find traditional architecture nestled in the shadows of modern constructions while exquisitely dressed Geishas wearing kimonos walk alongside leather-clad punks. It's a place where neon lights and kawaii fashion trends coexist with serene temples and centuries-old customs.

This workshop will focus on street and urban photography, with some time set aside for landscape photography and special activity-based lifestyle photography. The workshop will be conducted by experienced and world-renowned instructors from Leica Akademie Australia, Jesse Marlow and Robin Lowe, who will be joined by local guides to help find captivating corners beyond the reach of most tourists. Another feature of the trip will be dining experiences, with a selection of restaurants hand-picked by the instructors.

The workshop pace will be slow, allowing photographers who are enchanted by unique urban landscapes the opportunity to capture the cohesion between new and old cultures in a destination that is best described as dynamic. Editing sessions will take place on two of the workshop mornings, where the instructors will help guests shape a coherent body of work for each guest.

A new feature of Leica Akademie Australia destination workshops will be a complimentary hardback A4 book keepsake from the workshop. Featuring work from both the instructors and guests the books will be edited and sequenced by Jesse Marlow and Robin Lowe and printed by boutique Sydney book printer Momento Pro.
