CANCELLATION POLICY

  1. Cancellations must be in writing or by email. Local workshops and international events may be cancelled up to 30 days before the event date for a full refund. No refund will be given within 30 days of the event.
  2. For International events the deposit is non-refundable, except as specified in 3, below.
  3. The final balance for International events, once paid, will not be refunded if you then cancel, unless your place is subsequently booked and paid for by another guest, in which case your deposit will be refunded as well as the fee balance. If you wish to cancel after full payment is made we will endeavour to full your place but cannot guarantee that this will be successful.
  4. Your booking for an event is only registered when we have your deposit, should one be required.
  5. Your participation at an event is only guaranteed when full and final payment has been made by the due date.
  6. For larger events where a deposit has been taken in advance, the full balance will be due 90 days prior to the start of the event unless otherwise specified.
  7. If you cancel less than 30 days before the event starts there will be no refund of fee or deposit. Should another participant be found to fill the vacant place we will refund the deposit and any balance you have paid.
  8. Registrations are allocated on a first come, first served basis. When an event has a published maximum participation number this will be rigidly adhered to, but a waiting list may be established in case of subsequent cancellations.
  9. If the event is cancelled by us, you will receive a full refund of your booking fees. We will not refund any other costs you might have incurred such as flight bookings - we recommend you take out travel insurance to cover such situations.
  10. Please be aware that travel itineraries may be subject to change due to weather, road conditions or other unforeseen circumstances related to the normal unpredictability of travel and outdoors photography.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travel insurance is the responsibility of the participant and is highly recommended for cover of unforeseen circumstances. You may wish to make sure that the policy covers COVID-related travel costs, lost luggage, missed connections, out of pocket costs due to cancellation by the Supplier etc. Camera and equipment insurance is the responsibility of the individual photographer..

COVID-19

In the interest of group safely, if a guest displays COVID-like symptoms during a trip the group leader will require them to take a
COVID test. If positive the guest will be required to isolate from the group until those symptoms pass. This may entail significant disruptionsto that guest’s travel arrangements so, as per the previous paragraph, it is highly recommended that guests carry travel insurance that specifically covers COVID-related expenses in the event of any travel disruptions. Leica Akademie Australia is not liable for costs incurred as a result of COVID isolation and associated travel plan disruptions.

If a group leader tests positive for COVID he or she will isolate from the group until the symptoms pass, then resume to the best of their ability. In the meantime, Leica Akademie Australia will endeavour to minimise disruption to scheduled activities.

CAMERA EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

No particular level of photographic experience is necessary to take partin our day workshops.  A modest amount of photographic experience would be advisable to get the most out of our On Location Events. For such events, familiarising yourself with the basic camera operations would be strongly advised.

NOT INCLUDED IN OUR EVENTS

You are responsible for your own travel arrangements to get to the event, for any meals not specifically included in the workshop itinerary and any accommodation not specifically included in the event description.

Incidental expenses of a personal nature are not included.

MINIMUM NUMBERS

All workshops are conducted based on a minimum number of participants booking. This may vary from workshop to workshop. If we cancel due to minimum numbers not being reached you will get a full refund. Other bookings, such as travel and accommodation, that you may make are not our responsibility and so we recommend travel insurance which should cover unexpected cancellations.

TUTOR ROLES AND AVAILABILITY

Our instructors will be assisting you to take photographs and provide tuition throughout our events. They are there to teach you and help you get make fine images.

In the event of a tutor being unable to attend due to illness or other circumstances beyond our control we will endeavour to provide another tutor of similar experience.

UNDER 18

Participants who will be under 18 on the date of the event will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED TO KNOW?

There maybe some moderately energetic walking involved to get to certain locations so please consider this related to your physical abilities. If you have any other medical conditions that might affect your enjoyment of the event please let us know.

Evening and early morning shoots will form part of some events. You may choose to not participate in these but we recommend that you do take part. Early morning shoot times are entirely dependent on the sunrise times so schedules we set for departure will be adhered to rigidly.

Please bring clothing suited to early morning or evening shoots that might be a little chilly. Sturdy footwear, hat, sunscreen and camera are highly recommended. Like any trip away from home please bring personal medication requirements.

LIABILITY LIMITATION STATEMENT

Leica Akademie aims to provide every participant with a safe, educational and enjoyable experience during our events. As there is always an element of risk associated with the outdoors and travel in general so we accept no responsibility/liability for injury, death, illness, losses or additional expenses associated with event participation. By purchasing a Leica Akademie event ticket, you are agreeing to all the listed terms and conditions.
