Join acclaimed photographer Todd Hido for an intensive 3.5-day immersive workshop exploring the art of visual storytelling through photography. Known for his cinematic images of suburban landscapes, atmospheric nocturnal scenes, and intimate portraits, Hido will guide participants through his creative process while helping them develop their own distinctive visual voice.

The workshop will take place at the historic Manly Q Station. Participants will stay as a group at the boutique Q Station Manly Hotel https://qstation.com.au/

This intimate workshop combines practical shooting sessions, portfolio reviews, and in-depth discussions about photographic technique and artistic vision. Participants will explore the power of natural and artificial light, working in various conditions from golden hour to after dark. Special emphasis will be placed on Hido's signature approach to using available light and weather conditions to create moody, evocative images that blur the line between documentation and fiction.

The workshop includes daily shooting assignments in carefully selected locations, followed by editing sessions where Hido will demonstrate his sequence-building and book-making process. Students will learn how to develop long-term photographic projects, curate their work effectively, and create compelling visual narratives. Through group critiques, practical demonstrations, lectures and Q&A’s, participants will gain insight into both the technical and conceptual aspects of contemporary photography via one of the modern day masters.

This workshop is suitable for serious photographers who want to push their creative boundaries and develop a deeper understanding of their practice. Participants should bring a working knowledge of their camera, a laptop for editing, and a portfolio of current work for review.

* All meals, drinks and accommodation in single share rooms are covered as part of the workshop fee.
