Equipment: Participants should bring their own camera and laptop with editing software. Please make sure to download one of the following:

•  Adobe Premiere Pro ($$ – trial may be available)

•  DaVinci Resolve (free)

•  Apple Final Cut Pro ($$)

•  Apple Movie Maker (free on Macs)

•  Any other video editing software of YOUR choice

For music:

•  Get a trial at Artlist.IO, Audio or similar
•  Alternatively, look for royalty-free music

Itinerary:
 
DAY 1 FILMING
 
 1. Welcome & Introduction (10–20 min)
 • Brief introductions (myself + participants)
 • Outline of the day
 • Quick showcase reel of what’s possible with Leica cameras for video
 
2. Camera Fundamentals for Video (30 min)
 • Differences between stills and video shooting
 • Key settings: resolution, frame rates, shutter speed, ISO, white balance
 • Picture profiles and LOG options in Leica cameras
 • Stabilisation & lenses
 
3. Storytelling & Cinematic Principles (20 min)
 • Framing and composition for motion
 • Movement: handheld, gimbal, tripod styles
•  Using natural light and simple lighting setups
•  Sound basics: why audio matters
 
•  LUNCH BREAK 1hr
 
•  4. Practical Session – Shooting Exercise (3.5 hrs)
•  Break into small groups (or pairs if cameras are limited)
•  Go outside and film a short sequence
•  I will circulate, giving tips and technical guidance
 
•  5. Wrap-Up & Q&A (20 min)
•  Recap key lessons
•  Open discussion for challenges and questions
•  Save footage on hard drives for the next day if needed

•  Showcase a few fun editing references
•  Keep it simple while showing what editing can do from a creative perspective
•  2. Introduction to Video Editing Software & Music Options (10–15 min)
•  Explain the differences between Adobe, DaVinci and Apple software
 
•  LUNCH BREAK (1hr)
 
•  3. Editing Session (2.5–3 hrs)
•  I will guide everyone through their individual projects
•  The aim is to have a 15–30 sec video by the end of the course
•  How to quickly review footage and select the right shots
•  Keeping it simple and easy to understand
 
•  4. Review Everyone’s Work (30 min)
•  Watch everyone’s 15–30 sec video together
•  Not about creating the perfect video, but about getting a kickstart into the video world
 
•  5. Wrap-Up & Q&A (20 min)
