Join Melbourne-based architectural photographer Jack Lovel for an immersive 8-night workshop exploring the modernist architecture of Palm Springs — one of the world's great mid-century landscapes.

Hosted by Leica Akademie Australia, Built Perspectives brings together a small group of 8–10 photographers for an intimate and guided experience unlike any other. With exclusive access to private homes, expert-led architectural tours, and half-day shooting sessions focused on light, geometry and spatial composition, this workshop is designed to fundamentally change the way you see and photograph the built environment.

Jack Lovel is known for his clean, graphic approach to architectural photography — images that are honest, timeless, and attuned to the architect's intent. Since 2016, he has been documenting the legacy of Western Australian modernist architect Iwan Iwanoff, a project that culminated in his first book, Catching Light, and has been presented at Modernism Week in Palm Springs and the London Festival of Architecture.

Palm Springs in March offers ideal conditions: warm desert light, crisp mornings, and a city that reads like an open-air museum of 20th century design. Participants will photograph at Frank Sinatra's Twin Palms Estate, explore William Krisel's Alexander Tract homes, shoot at the contemporary Sky Ridge House alongside local architect Lance O'Donnell, and venture to Joshua Tree National Park at golden hour. Throughout the week, Jack will guide the group through his process — from reading a building and finding the right light, to composition, sequencing, and editing your work.

All accommodation, meals, and curated experiences are included.
