13.10.25 - MOROCCO - A Photographer's Visual Odyssey with Jesse Marlow & Stephen Dupont
October 13, 2025 - October 22, 2025
Leica Akademie Australia is excited to be offering two workshops to Morocco during October and November 2025.
Join Australian photographers Jesse Marlow and Stephen Dupont on an extraordinary photographic journey through the mesmerising landscapes and vibrant urban tapestry of Morocco, where ancient traditions, architectural marvels, and stunning light converge to create a visual storyteller's paradise. This immersive 10-night workshop will guide photographers through four distinctive cities, each offering a unique palette of colours, textures, and cultural nuances that will challenge and inspire your visual narrative.
Begin your adventure in Tangier, the cosmopolitan gateway between Africa and Europe. This city, with its blend of Mediterranean and North African influences, presents photographers with a rich canvas of whitewashed medinas, bustling port scenes, and the ethereal light that dances across the cityscape. Capture the intricate details of traditional Moroccan architecture, the dynamic street life, and the compelling intersections of cultures that make Tangier a photographer's dream.
Next, journey to the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen, nestled in the Rif Mountains. Here, every street, stairway, and doorway is painted in mesmerising shades of blue, creating an almost surreal visual landscape that has captivated photographers worldwide. From deep indigo to soft azure, the city's monochromatic palette offers endless opportunities for architectural photography, portrait studies, and atmospheric landscape shots.
The ancient city of Fes awaits with its labyrinthine medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site that represents the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco. As you navigate its narrow, winding streets, you'll encounter master artisans, traditional craft workshops, and architectural marvels that have remained unchanged for centuries. Photographers will have unprecedented access to document the intricate tilework of historic madrasas, the iconic leather tanneries, the bustling souks, and the timeless human stories that unfold in this living museum of Moroccan heritage.
Conclude your photographic expedition in Casablanca, a city that beautifully juxtaposes modern architectural marvels with historic charm. From the breathtaking Hassan II Mosque, with its intricate Islamic design and dramatic oceanfront setting, to the art deco and colonial-era buildings that line the streets, Casablanca offers a contemporary counterpoint to the more traditional cities you'll have explored. Capture the city's dynamic energy, its emerging urban landscapes, and the subtle interplay of light and shadow that defines its unique character.
Run in conjunction with leading Moroccan travel company Experience Morocco who will look after all the ground logistics and travel components of the
workshop. Whether you're a professional photographer or an advanced enthusiast, this workshop promises to be a transformative experience that goes beyond photography, offering a deep, immersive understanding of Morocco's visual and cultural richness.
Included:
- All accommodation. Standard double room for each participant including breakfast
- All group lunches and dinner including alcoholic drinks
- *Flights not included*
Included as part of the workshop fee, each participant will receive a cloth-bound hardback A4 book with a selection of the images from the group. The book will also include the work of the instructors and be a wonderful keepsake from the workshop.
