Over three and a half days, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to explore architectural photography on the Mornington Peninsula under the guidance of acclaimed Australian architecture photographer Jack Lovel. The program begins Friday early afternoon at the iconic Robin Boyd Walsh St house in South Yarra before departing as a group to the Mornington Peninsula. After checking in at the hotel, the first evening will be a relaxed intro dinner and catch-up, before moving into two full days of shooting: two houses on Saturday and two on Sunday. Drawn from a curated mix of contemporary and modernist design, opened to participants through an exclusive arrangement supported by the Robin Boyd Foundation
This kind of access to architecturally significant private residences is seldom available to photographers outside professional commissions, making the workshop a genuinely distinctive offering within the Leica Akademie Australia program.
Each shooting day is anchored by two houses, with Jack introducing the architectural intent behind each building before participants shoot at their own pace, receiving one-on-one guidance along the way. The mix of contemporary and modernist properties across the weekend gives participants a chance to adapt their approach across quite different design languages, from geometric modernism to materially expressive contemporary architecture.
On Monday, the morning will consist of a group editing session giving participants dedicated time to work through their strongest images from the weekend and refine their edits with Jack's input. A group farewell lunch will then take place.
Accommodation is covered as part of the workshop fee and participants will be staying at the Motel Flinders. Each participant will have their own standard single room. Please reach out if you are intending to bring a non-photography contributing partner along.
All meals and drinks will be covered by Leica and Saturday night’s meal will be at the leading Mornington Peninsula restaurant Moke .
Late Sunday afternoon will be spent at the Darryl Jackson designed Stonier Winery
