Join acclaimed photographers Todd Hido and Jesse Marlow for an intensive 8-night immersive workshop that will help transform the way you see, shoot, and share your work.
Hosted by Leica Akademie Australia in the vibrant cityscape of Hong Kong, this unique masterclass brings together two distinct photographic voices: American photographer Todd Hido, renowned for his haunting nocturnal narratives and evocative use of light, and Australian photographer Jesse Marlow, celebrated for his incisive street photography and documentary work.
This isn't just another photography workshop. Over eight nights, you'll move beyond technical fundamentals to explore the deeper questions that define meaningful photographic practice: How do you develop a cohesive long-form project? What makes a body of work exhibition-ready? How do you translate your vision into a compelling photo book concept?
The workshop combines slide talks, hands-on shooting in Hong Kong's dynamic urban environment, guided editing and sequencing, and intensive portfolio reviews. Participants are also encouraged to venture out independently, using Hong Kong
as their canvas to explore personal projects and push their creative boundaries. Working closely with Todd and Jesse, you'll refine your visual voice, strengthen your editing process, and learn how to present your work with confidence and clarity.
The culmination? A group pop-up exhibition featuring work created during the workshop, plus a collaborative group photo book that will be produced as a lasting record of the journey, giving you real-world experience in both preparing photographs for public display and understanding the photo book production process.
Whether you're developing a long-term project, conceptualising a photo book, or working towards your first exhibition, The Art of Being Seen offers the mentorship, critique, and creative community you need to take that crucial next step in your photographic journey.
We will be staying at Aki Hotel Hong Kong. All accommodation, food and drinks (including alcohol) are included.
Spaces are limited to ensure personalised attention from both instructors.
