STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WITH JESSE MARLOW

Leica Akademie Australia is pleased to announce a new date for the next Melbourne street photography weekend with Jesse Marlow.

Jesse is keen to spend as much time out shooting as possible and so this workshop runs for a total of 17 hours. This allows a much more in-depth experience with two shooting sessions under Jesse’s guidance plus an introductory theory session and a critique/post-processing session to finish.

Day 1: 18 April, 2020, 8am – 4pm

The workshop will commence at a city venue with a short presentation by Jesse showing his work and discussing his approach to street photography. Tips on how to overcome potential fears of shooting in public, confidence, body language and expectations. Then the small group will head out into the surrounding areas to ‘pound the streets’ looking for interesting and quirky images. Jesse will spend time with each guest throughout the day, helping you refine your craft and boost your confidence on the street.

Day 2: 19 April 2020, 8am – 5pm

Day 2 will include a morning session of shooting with Jesse exploring the colour, light and people in and around the streets followed by lunch.

In the afternoon, there will be a group editing session back in the classroom with comments and critique. Participants should bring their own laptop for editing.

Equipment: Please feel free bring your own cameras and a memory card, Leica or not. Leica Cameras can be provided if you would like to try one out. If you have a particular Leica lens or camera you would like to use, please contact Principal Instructor Nick Rains (info@leica-akademie.com.au). Please note: we cannot guarantee any particular item but we will do our best.

Where: Leica Store. St Collins Lane, 270 Collins Street.

Equipment: Please bring a camera with something like a mid-range zoom (24-90mm), the Leica Q and Q2 are perfect, as is the M10P but any camera will be fine. Please also bring a laptop or iPad for image evaluation later in the day. If you’d like to borrow a Leica to use during the workshop please ask.
