Event Overview

Due to the continued popularity and relevance of this topic, we are offering a new, upgraded version of this course and will be offering it multiple times per year in both Melbourne and Sydney.

Principal Instructor Nick Rains has expanded this workshop which is aimed at improving your mastery of the camera and its settings, and the day now includes a practical session involving some hands-on photo challenges.

Photo Fundamentals covers the conceptual topics beyond simply operating the camera:

  • Aperture – what is it and what is it for? How does it affect the ‘look’ of your image?
  • Shutter Speed – how does the camera capture movement, or lack of it?
  • ISO – what does it do and why do you need to understand it?
  • Exposure – how do the above settings affect exposure and what is a ‘good’ exposure?
  • Focussing – where and how should you be focussing?
  • Raw vs Jpeg – explained in great detail.
  • White Balance – when and how to set this.
  • Sharpness – how is this achieved?
  • Framing and Composition – what works and what doesn’t.

Plus lots more… (If you have been to any of Nick’s training seminars you will know that there is always room for ‘unscheduled digressions’!)

Extensive notes are provided before the workshop.

Lunch will be provided by Leica Akademie Australia.
