Event Overview

Join Leica Akademie Instructors Mark Strachan and Nick Rains for a weekend of landscape photography and instruction on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Known for its mix of European and Australian coastal charm, the weekend will also be complemented with great views, beautiful wine and produce.

Mark and Nick will take you on location for three different photoshoots to hone your skills, additionally there will be two classroom sessions to teach you the finer points of image preparation and polishing.

There will two early starts, though the rest of the weekend will be spent at a relaxed pace with plenty of time to travel home on Sunday afternoon.

Where: Peppers Moonah Links Resort, Mornington Peninsula, VIC
When: 11 – 13 OCTOBER 2019
Time: 7.30pm dinner, briefing and introductions on first day.
Highlights: Landscape photography around Cape Schank, visit to Port Nepean Quarantine Station, post processing instruction.

Equipment:Please bring a camera with a selection of lenses, plus a tripod for low light photos. If you would like to borrow a Leica for the trip, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.


Arrival Day. We start off the weekend with dinner at the Hotel restaurant where your hosts Mark Strachan and Nick Rains will brief you on the weekend’s activities.


We will rise before dawn for shoot at Cape Schank after which we will return to the hotel for breakfast. We will then learn about post-processing and sweetening our images.

After an excellent lunch we will visit the Quarantine Station at Port Nepean where we will spend the rest of the afternoon shooting interiors and details of this fascinating piece of local history.

Dinner will be held at Petit Tracteur or Polperro in Red Hill.


Another early rise for a dawn shoot at London Bridge (approx. 20mins drive away). After breakfast at a local cafe we will return to the classroom to continue our post processing sessions with some more advanced techniques until lunchtime.

We will round off the trip with a visit to the impressive Pt Leo Estate for lunch before heading back to the hotel to collect our belongings.

Further Information

Rooming Basis: the price is based on single occupancy rooms. If couples wish to book we can offer a $750 per person discount which will be reflected in the final payable balance. Please book two places and then tell us you wish to take advantage of this discount.

Deposit: a $500 deposit will secure you a place on the trip. This is non-refundable unless the trip is fully booked and we can fill your place from the waiting list.

Inclusions: This is a fully inclusive trip and includes all meals, accommodation, transport, excursions, permits, helicopter flight.

Exclusions: Airfare to Cairns, personal expenses.
