Minimalist Portraiture – July 2nd – Sydney Mark Strachan is one of Australia’s most successful portrait photographers and has been conducting portrait workshops for Leica Akademie for the past three years. For the first time he will be visiting Sydney to conduct a workshop based around the idea of “Minimalist Portraiture”.
What Mark means by this is the concept that you can find good light for portraiture just about anywhere, if you know how and where to look. Working with just a single camera and lens. Mark will demonstrate that carefully observing the light, choosing a suitable background and then positioning your model ‘just so’ can lead to superb results even in the most apparently difficult situations.
Our venue will be in and around the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney and we will have a model for the afternoon to act as your portrait subject.
When : July 2nd 11.00am – 5.00pm Where : Meet at the Leica Store, Lvl 2, QVB, Sydney. 11.00 – 12.00 Short Seminar on the theory behind the practice. Loan gear briefing. 12.00 – 12.30 Lunch (provided) 12.30 – 4.00 Practical session with model using provided Leica cameras, or your own of course. 4.00 – 5.00 Image Review and Critique.
