Adobe Lightroom in Depth

Event Overview

Leica cameras all shoot raw files in the DNG format and Adobe Lightroom* is recommended as the preferred raw processor for all Leica images. The big question is how to make the most of this powerful software and what is the best way to make your images look as good as possible.

In this detailed workshop, Akademie Instructor and Lightroom expert Nick Rains will focus entirely on the post processing aspects of Lightroom to take you deeper into the opportunities offered by high-end imaging software. This course builds on the topics covered in the Mastering Adobe Lightroom course offered at other times of the year, but prior attendance at that event is not necessary.

During the day we will cover the following topics:

Raw vs Jpeg Processing – Pros and Cons

Image Assessment – key decisions about what adjustments an image needs

Global Image Adjustments

Local Images Adjustments

Subtle Colour and Tonal Edits

Shadow Contrast

Advanced Noise Reduction

Lesser Known Features of Lightroom

Lightroom for iOS vs Lightroom Classic

‘Round Tripping’ with Adobe Photoshop and other applications

Sharpening for Print and Web

Exporting for different end uses

*It would be best if you could bring along a laptop with Adobe Lightroom Classic installed – the other versions of Lightroom will be adequate, but many of the more advanced features are missing. You’ll need to look in your Creative Cloud app to see which versions you have installed, and make sure it’s called Lightroom Classic not just Lightroom.

Lunch will be provided by Leica Akademie Australia.
