Markets Java

I am always on the lookout for slightly different angles and unusual points of view. This image was taken in a market hall looking down from a higher level inside the building. Being a busy place I had to wait for a clear shot, and I have cropped this a bit, but it was the rigid geometry of the floor tiles it what attracted my eye in the first place so I had to be patient to make it work.

It was impossible to get a perfectly vertical aspect and since this was originally shot at an angle it meant that the parallel lines converged somewhat towards the top. I used the perspective controls in Lightroom to square up the pattern to a rigid vertical and horizontal alignment and added a small amount of contrast for extra B+W punch.

Sometimes you need to imagine what you will do with an image in post-production at the time of shooting. I had this image in my mind as soon as I saw the subject and shot accordingly.
